However, the current literature is not adequately reflecting the physical capacity regarding the functional performance among elderly as they getting older.
Objective: The main objective of this study was to explore if the retired Saudi elderly would demonstrate different physical capacity to the timed up and go and five times sit to stand at the age strata from 60-64 and from65-69 years.
Methods and Material: Sixty retired Saudi elderly who are independently ambulant have voluntarily participated. The researchers recorded demographic data and tested every participant for timed up and go in addition to five times sit to stand tests. The researchers randomized the order of measurement to overcome the order effect.
Results: An independent sample t test was calculated comparing the mean score of retired Saudi elderly participants. Neither timed up and go nor five times sit to stand outcome measures showed any significant differences p> 0.05.
Conclusions: The study findings did not show any significant difference in the physical performance of the functional outcome measures used to discriminate two consecutive age groups of five years period of the retired Saudi male participants.
